Robert Van Beurden paints timeless still-lives in the style of the Old
Masters of 17th century Holland. Still-lives in the Dutch tradition have
the quality of the eternal and this is precisely what Van Beurden
captures so well in his paintings. The light touches each object
serenely, while the dark background brings each color into dramatic
relief. Van Beurden uses a long, intensive process of layered paint
application to achieve the richness in colors that arrest the viewer’s
eye. His paintings are intensely real feeling; the viewer feels that he
can almost pluck a grape from his canvas “Grapes on a Tin Plate.” Yet
there is nothing dull about his realism. As Van Beurden states “painting
must be picturesque, not photo-realistic.” Robert Van Beurden studied
his technique from a Master who learned the traditional way of painting
40 years ago in Antwerp, Belgium. He currently lives and works in
Holland.

Robert koopt de originele schildersezel van de bekende Belgische
schilder en restaurateur Arthur van Poeck ( 1877-1953 ). Deze werkte
o.a in het Maagdenhuis in Antwerpen en ontdekte tijdens restauratie
werkzaamheden een werk van Rubensleerling Theodoor van Thulden

Robert van Beurden is zo intens met zijn vak bezig,
dat hij zelfs een biologisch gecultiveerde fruitboom heeft
geadopteerd.
Volgens Robert heeft biologisch fruit mooiere vormen en
kleuren dan het fruit dat men in de schapppen van de
supermarkt aantreft.
Bovendien is het beter voor het milieu.
